Meet Mrs. Walterscheid

Family –

My husband, Carl, and I have two children, Troy and Lisa who are both Holy Cross alumni.

Favorite Verse –

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.”  John 11:25

Education –

I am a graduate of Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a certificate of Ornamental Painting and Design.

Awards / Achievements –

I am part of partnership of artists here at Holy Cross who have designed the baptismal font and the new processional cross. I worked with a fellow artist to paint the Bible verses around the top of the walls in the Fellowship Hall.

I was a contributing artist and involved my classroom students in Sacred Space: A Collaborative Exhibit at the Ulrich Museum at WSU. I have participated in the Works of Faith Show at Karg Art Glass in Kechi, KS. for the past several years. One of my favorite projects was to recreate the stained glass windows at St. Anthony Catholic Church in watercolor. My work has been shown at a variety of galleries including the Steckline Gallery at Newman University, Clayton Staples Gallery at Wichita State University, the gallery at Exploration Place, Gallery XXII, the Wichita Center for the Arts, The Mercer Gallery at Garden City Community College, The William J. Reals Gallery at the Kansas University School of Medicine Wichita, and Adelante Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ. My work includes a variety of media including painting, enameling, and mixed media.

Professional Goals –

I have two professions: one teaching art to students at Holy Cross Lutheran School and one as a working artist in the Wichita community. I want to enrich the lives of my students with art experiences across the curriculum as well as exploring a wide variety of art mediums and techniques. My prayer is that I can enrich my student’s lives with the joy of creativity.

Hobbies –

I love to travel and experience new places.
