6th Grade News

Religion: We had another great week studying God’s word.  If your student did not turn in their “Facing the Giants Response” it was due Friday.  They may still turn it in on Monday for a small deduction.  Memory work is still due next week.  They will give it verbally at Outdoor ed.  Psalm 19:1

Reading: We will go over Outdoor Ed. folders. Then we start Unit 1 Week 3. A book report has been assigned. It is due Friday, Oct. 4. The book must be realistic fiction. Parents need to sign a rough draft.

English: We are working in our new book. The 6th graders continue to give me their best!

Spelling: No spelling the week of Outdoor Ed. We will work in our classical roots workbook. (It lives at school.)

Science:  The first science test is out of the way and we really began to move through some material this week.  The students are doing great as we began to study the metric system this week.  We will finish up with the metric system and cover safety procedures after we return from outdoor ed.  Their lab packets will be due on Tuesday, but those should not be taken home for any reason!

Social Studies: We had our first test and the students did well on it. Sometimes the first test is a little more difficult since they are not sure exactly what it will be like. Our next chapter now looks at a second River Civilization. That is ancient Egypt and Kush which develop along the Nile River.

Math: The next math test will not  be until Tuesday Sept 24th due to Outdoor ed.
