Kindergarten

Kindergarten

  • Hands-on learning about the world around us .
  • Our phonics-based reading curriculum is taught in break-out small groups to ensure all children receive instruction that meets their individual needs.
  • Children travel “around the world” in Kindergarten, allowing them to explore and learn about many different countries and cultures.
  • Guided learning to help children grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  Children are given daily opportunities to grow in their relationships with others, especially with our Savior, Jesus Christ!

First Grade

First Grade

  • Students become more independent in first grade through learning to read, writing their thoughts and spelling words correctly.
  • Students improve their decoding and comprehension skill through phonics.
  • Students grow in their faith through daily bible stories, devotions, and prayer.
  • Students continue to build the foundation for future math concepts through daily lessons.

Second Grade

Second Grade

  • 2nd grade is filled with fun field trips that give students hands-on experiences and allow for learning opportunities outside of the classroom.
  • 2nd graders are challenged to become more fluent readers. They are excited and motivated to read as they participate in the Accelerated Reader program.
  • Learning in 2nd grade is enjoyable and rewarding. Students are taught responsibility and take more responsibility for their behavior and learning. 2nd graders grow spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and academically as they gain confidence in themselves.

Third Grade

Third Grade

  • Instruction is multisensory and educational activities are designed with each student in mind.
  • Third grade is a year of transition. Students transition away from learning to read into reading to learn. The joy of reading is emphasized through novel studies, short stories, and exciting read-aloud books.
  • Third graders learn the importance of communication through oral presentations and written composition pieces.
  • A highlight is a field trip to the Kansas State Fair to reinforce information that is learned through our research project on Kansas.

Fourth Grade

Fourth Grade

  • Fourth grade is filled with new things to learn through exciting projects and special units that enhance the curriculum we use.
  • Fourth graders look forward to a variety of field trips that help us learn and understand more about Kansas history and the great people we are proud to say are from Kansas.
  • We strive to grow spiritually, academically, physically, emotionally, and socially and show Christ in everything we do.
  • We work to be encouraging and respectful.

Fifth Grade

Fifth Grade

  • Comprehensive U.S. History curriculum focusing on the 1400s-1980s.
  • Strong emphasis on Literature. As a class, we read over 30 books together.  The additional reading curriculum includes self-study of over 10 full novels.
  • Special unit on the Chronicles of Narnia book series.
  • The science curriculum includes a 5-day STEM workshop field trip to McConnell AFB Starbase. Starbase is a DoD STEM Outreach program that uses active learning instructional strategies. Students become directly involved in the educational process which maximizes their understanding and learning.
